hey my beautifuls :)
i think thats a great idea with drawing the weather each lesson, to incorporate ICT they could draw it in paint on their computers and insert and text box where they write whether or not they like the weather and why...? -this can be done after we look up the weather today in perth and pop out side for physical observations... and i also think that the weather journal is also a great way of displaying their work and it can also be something they can refer to when writing their letter oversea's.

Decisions:
What should our final product be? A weather journal or planning for a trip? If we do choose the weather journal we should incorporate this into this class by maybe getting the 'kids' to draw a picture in their journal of the weather today after we have reviewed the 'weather today' on the smart board. Any thoughts????
P.s- sorry about my stress out last night. It will all be ok!
Ok.......Weather:
Some thoughts.....
Lesson One: The seasons
Lesson Two: The climate in Perth
Lesson Three: Weather around the world- through use of a penpal and the internet
Lesson Four????? A weather journal????? (or this could actually be the first lesson- kids can go outside and draw a puicture of the weather OR draw their favourite weather????) THIS IS WHAT WE COULD BE WORKING TOWARDS: EVERY LESSON THEY COULD BE DRAWING THE WEATHER OUTSIDE AND THEN WRITE MAYBE WHY THEY LIKE IT OR DONT LIKE IT.... AND THEN THIS JOURNAL CAN BE "USED" TO PLAN THEIR TRIP TO WHEREVER????????

pick graphs from katie is a good one

Okay so here is the ROUGH plan for our lesson presentation:

LESSON 1: Seasons
- We will teach our students what weather patterns are typical for each season and when they are through fun activities

LESSON 2: Climate in Perth
- This lesson would be about Perth's weather specifically

LESSON 3: Email overseas
- In this lesson we are planning to send out an 'email' to an overseas country (preferably somewhere were the climate is rather different to Perth's)
- Each individual student will write an letter describing the weather they live in, which is there favourite season and why they like it etc (Pen-pals idea)
- There will be an smart board activity from the Learning Federation which will hopefully involve something like dressing something according to the weather and maybe identifying the seasons through pictures and words
- If appropriate, a youtube video can be shown to help the understanding of the different types of climates etc (What do you girls think of a song?)

LESSON 4: Receiving 'email'
- In this lesson we will hopefully have received a response to our letters and we can discuss them within the classroom

EVALUATION:
- wikispaces: everyone contribute two words or short phrases of what they thought of our lesson plan (All different)
- wordle: create a wordle page using all these words and displaying for all to see
- we would then discuss the meaning and meaning behind they words - also the reason they up there

SMARTBOARD:
1.
Welcome - whats the weather like today? / How are you feeling today?
Weather attendance check??

2.
Day?
Month?
Season?
Dressing: appropriate clothes according to the weather seen in the picture

3.
Learning Objectives, Aims:
a. Review
b. Overview
c. Reflect
*learning federation

4.
Email: What we are doing? Why?

5.

6.
Reflect - as teachers

ASSIGNED JOBS:

Jo: Typer, look for activities, youtube videos

Some links to pages about Penpals
http://www.epals.com/search/SearchResults.aspx?q=weather&g=50- the best site for penpals. I have signed up. I think we are just going to have to talk the others through this though, as it is a real site and I don't want to get other classroom's hopes up. It is awesome though!!!!!! (Anna)

hey my girlies :)
YOUTUBE CLIPS ON WEATHER:
this one is very imformative and sums everything up, but i dont think its ECE material....

(I like this too Katie!- Anna. We could have 'taught' the kids it in an earlier class- maybe in the first lesson, and then could sing it every time we return to the topic????)

LEARNING FEDERATION ACTIVITIES:
this ones ok... not completely happy with it but see what you think! (I saw this one too.. I like it :)) (Jo)
